UKFeminista: resources for teachers, students and parents to help promote gender equality in the classroom

UKFeminista aims to support people and organisations to take action and create lasting change in order to bring about equality between women and men.

A key part of UK Feminista's work is to support schools with tackling sexism in schools. As such, they have developed free training and resources to tackle sexual harassment, sexist language and gender stereotyping in schools.

Training

UKFeminista has a free online teacher training course for schools and Initial Teacher Training providers, which aims to equip teachers and trainee teachers with the knowledge, tools and confidence to challenge sexism and sexual harassment in the classroom.

It includes:

  • practical tools for preventing sexual harassment, sexist language and gender stereotyping in the classroom
  • how schools can take a strategic, 'whole school' approach to tackle sexism
  • what impact sexism has in schools and society

The course lasts 90 minutes and can be completed in one sitting, or over a series of sessions.

Resources hub

Alongside the training, UKFeminista has created an online resources hub, with support for teachers, pupils and parents. Resources include:

Research
