12. Changes to these terms and conditions
1.1. The Terms and Conditions (the ‘Conditions’) in conjunction with NAHT’s constitution and rules(the ‘Constitution’) and the NAHT Edge constitution (the ‘Edge constitution’), govern your membership of NAHT, and use of the Services (the ‘Services’) provided by NAHT.
1.2. By becoming a member of NAHT Edge, you agree to these Conditions (and any variation or amendment to them) in full. Non-members are bound by the Conditions set out in paragraphs 1, 8, 9 and 10 of these terms and conditions.
1.4. In the event of any conflict between these Conditions, our policies and the Constitutions, the NAHT Constitution shall have precedence. The interpretation of any matter arising from the NAHT Constitution shall be determined by the National Executive.
1.5. The Services are determined by the National Executive and are subject to change. Services are set out in section seven of these Conditions and are defined within the NAHT Edge Membership Proposition.
1.6. NAHT shall have the right to make any changes to the Services which are necessary to comply with any applicable law or safety requirement, or which do not materially affect the nature or quality of the Services.
1.7. We may amend these Conditions at our discretion at any time, and any revised versions will be effective immediately once published at www.nahtedge.org.uk (the ’Website’).

2.1. Full eligibility details are available in the Edge Constitution.
2.2. To join, members will need to meet at least one of the following criteria:
- Lead a subject or curriculum area across the school or department.
- Be accountable for pupil development or progress across the school, year or department.
- Develop the teaching practice of other staff.
- Line manage other staff or be accountable for staff members’ performance.
2.3 This must be demonstrated by one of the following:
- Pay scale or responsibility allowance (eg. teaching and learning responsibility. levels one to three or leading practitioner status).
- Job title (eg. assistant head teacher, head of year, head of subject, head of department, special educational needs coordinator, etc).
- Supporting evidence (eg. job description or narrative).
2.4. The Services will only be provided for members in roles which meet NAHT Edge eligibility criteria above.
2.5. If, as a result of a change in role or termination of employment, a member becomes ineligible for NAHT Edge membership while Services are being provided, NAHT may at its discretion continue to provide the member with services subject to the member continuing to pay their usual subscription or having paid their subscription in advance. From the date of the change, no other services will be provided to the member. Whilst a member is benefiting from representation, their category of membership and subscription rate will not be changed, regardless of eligibility until the case in which representation is being provided reaches a conclusion.
2.6 On becoming a senior education leader, such as a deputy head teacher or equivalent, an NAHT Edge member must leave membership or transfer to NAHT membership.
3.1. Membership applications may be made online (via the NAHT edge website), by post (using an application form) or by telephone (by calling 01444 472414).
3.2. If you wish to re-join following a break in membership, email firstname.lastname@example.org for details on how to proceed.
3.3. NAHT reserves the right to request further evidence to support a membership application and to withdraw membership if at any time it finds that membership eligibility criteria are not met.
3.4. The name provided at the time of application will be that which you will subsequently be addressed in all communications. This can be later amended by emailing email@example.com, or phoning NAHT Edge member support on 0300 30 30 333 (option two) , or writing to NAHT Edge, 1 Heath Square, Boltro Road, Haywards Heath, West Sussex RH16 1BL.
3.5. In the interest of data security, members are required to provide a non-business email address.
3.6. NAHT cannot be held responsible for identifying multiple membership applications from the same person if the joining application process is completed more than once.
3.7. Membership starts at the completion of the online joining journey.
3.8. Access to member services and benefits will be provided from the membership start date. You are not entitled to any legal advice or representation which relates to any issue which pre-dates the membership start date.
4.1. NAHT Edge membership is available to those who meet the requirements of paragraphs 2.2 and 2.3 of these terms and conditions.
4.2. NAHT Edge life membership is available to full members who are no longer eligible for full NAHT Edge membership and are entitled to receive retirement benefits.
5.1. From your membership start date, you enter into an annual rolling contract with NAHT Edge for the Services which are paid for by monthly subscription by direct debit.
5.2. Membership subscriptions are payable by direct debit on or around the 28th of each month. Direct debits are collected in accordance with the direct debit schemes and rules. Any unpaid instalments will remain outstanding and will be collected the following month.
5.3. Membership subscription rates are published on the NAHT Edge Website and advance notice of your subscription amount will be confirmed to you in writing before your NAHT Edge direct debit instruction becomes active. If your direct debit instruction is not accepted by your bank, for example because invalid details have been provided by you, your membership application will be deemed void. NAHT Edge will not accept any liability for costs incurred as a result of applications deemed void in this manner.
5.4 Members of NAHT Edge are placed on a rolling 12 months contract starting from the date of joining. New Members joining and Members changing membership categories part way through a year contract for the remainder of their 12 month contract* Members leaving during the year will be required to pay the remainder of the full year subscription in full at the time of leaving.
5.5. NAHT Edge reserves the right to increase the membership subscription rates provided that such rates are not increased more than once in any six-month period. NAHT Edge will publish any such increase on the Website 28 days before the date of the increase.
5.6. A reduction in membership subscription is available for some categories of membership if the individual is working 0.6 or less of a full-time equivalent post or if the individual is on maternity/paternity/adoption leave. Email firstname.lastname@example.org to notify us of such changes.
5.7. Default on any payment due under these conditions may result in the full balance of the 12-month contract becoming due and payable.
5.8. Members whose subscription payments are more than three calendar months in arrears shall be deemed to have resigned their membership and shall not be entitled to any of the Services from the date of default.
5.9. Reinstatement of membership or access to membership Services will be at the discretion of NAHT and will only be considered within three months after membership has expired or after access to Services has been restricted.
5.10. Members with any overdue subscription payments in the initial three calendar months will have restricted access to Services.
5.11. If overdue subscription payments are paid up within the initial three calendar months, access to Services will be reinstated.
5.12. Members who are suspended from membership for an agreed period, as per Rule 5.7 of the Edge Constitution, who pay subscriptions by direct debit will not be entitled to a refund for membership during the period of suspension.
6.1. Members who wish to update their details should email email@example.com, or phone NAHT on 0300 30 30 333 (option two) or write to NAHT Edge, 1 Heath Square, Boltro Road, Haywards Heath, West Sussex RH16 1BL.
6.2. It can take up to 30 days to make changes to your membership details.
6.3. Reductions in subscription rates, where a member moves from a full time to a part time subscription rate or where a member moves from full membership to life membership will be applied as soon as possible after notification of the change of role was received by our membership team in writing or by email or by telephone, usually with effect from the first day of the following month. Subscription rates are not adjusted retrospectively because it is the member’s responsibility to keep the Member Support updated.
6.4. Where a change in a member’s role results in an increase in subscription rate, we reserve the right to apply and recover increased subscriptions from the date on which the member started in their new role.
6.5. Members who become ineligible for membership as a result of retirement or resignation from their role must give at least one calendar months’ notice in writing, by email to firstname.lastname@example.org, by post to Member Support, NAHT, 1 Heath Square, Boltro Road, Haywards Heath, West Sussex RH16 1BL, or by phone to 0300 30 30 333 (option two).
6.7. Members transferring to life membership must do so within six months after the termination of their full membership. For more information, contact the member support team by emailing email@example.com.
6.8. You may cancel your membership in writing at any time by giving at least one calendar months’ notice in writing to firstname.lastname@example.org, or phoning NAHT on 01444 472472, or writing to NAHT Edge, 1 Heath Square, Boltro Road, Haywards Heath, West Sussex RH16 1BL.
6.9. NAHT will not continue to provide the Services for those members who resign their membership, other than in circumstances provided for in paragraph 2.5.
7.1. The Services are defined by NAHT Edge membership proposition.
7.2. The Services do not provide members with public liability or professional indemnity insurance. NAHT Edge is not indemnified to cover any third party and our legal advice only applies to the relationship between employer and employee and not the buying and selling of services.
7.3. Through arrangements NAHT has made with carefully selected third-parties, NAHT Edge members are offered certain products and services from NAHT partners on preferential or otherwise beneficial terms. These products and services are not offered or provided by NAHT Edge, but rather by NAHT Edge partners. A full list of the Services offered to members by partners of NAHT Edge is available on the Website.
7.4. NAHT Edge members wishing to purchase selected products and services must do so direct from the relevant NAHT Edge partner. In connection with the promotion of these selected products and services NAHT Edge grants its partners the right to use the name NAHT Edge and the NAHT Edge partner or Assured logo.
7.5. As part of its investigations and taking account of ongoing member feedback, NAHT Edge is confident that the products and services offered by its partners in connection with the NAHT Edge name and NAHT Edge partner and Assured logo are worthy of serious consideration by school leaders interested in selecting such products and services.
7.6. Notwithstanding this, each NAHT Edge member acknowledges that in selecting such products and services they have not relied on any endorsement or association with NAHT Edge in respect of the relevant product or service and shall have no remedies against NAHT and its employees in respect of such endorsement or association.
8.1. When you join NAHT Edge, you will be invited to register for access to the NAHT Edge website and its member-only content using a username and password of your choice. Your password is yours alone – please keep it confidential and do not let anyone else use your account.
8.2. You are responsible for any activity on the Website arising out of any failure to keep your password confidential and may be held liable for any losses, goods or services arising out of such a failure.
8.3. You must notify us immediately if you become aware of any unauthorised use of your membership. You must not use any other person's account to access the member’s area of the Website. Call 0300 3030333 (option 2) or email email@example.com.
8.4. NAHT Edge reserves the right to disable a member’s online account at any time, if in our reasonable opinion you have failed to comply with any of the provisions of these Conditions.
8.5. We may do the following at our sole discretion without notice or explanation:
- Suspend your online account.
- Cancel your online account.
- Edit your online account details.
9.1. NAHT Edge has a formal complaints procedure. The complaints form, which can be accessed from the Website should be completed and sent by email D&G@naht.org.uk or by post to the Director of Democracy and Governance, NAHT, 1 Heath Square, Boltro Road, Haywards Heath, West Sussex RH16 1BL. Members may also speak to the Director of Democracy and Governance 01444 472472 to register a complaint.

10.1. These terms and conditions shall be governed by and construed in accordance with English law, and any disputes relating to them shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England.
