NAHT Edge has been in development since a special general meeting in late 2013 overwhelmingly approved its concept. This came following thorough research and development.
As a result, we feel the value of true leadership has never been more important. Leaders give people purpose and confidence. They are responsible, optimistic and creative. We are a community of teachers who are leaders and aspiring leaders in education.
We offer all of the protection of a traditional union and we are responsive, constructive and progressive. We are people who want to support each other to make a difference.
We will raise the standards of the whole profession by developing our skills and addressing the issues that matter.
We use the latest technology and research to support people through their careers in education, helping to develop those who are ambitious both for their schools and for themselves.
We are NAHT Edge.
James Bowen studied history and politics at the University of Warwick, graduating with a first-class degree in 2002. After beginning his career in the finance sector, James took the decision in 2005 to become a teacher. He was quickly recognised as an outstanding classroom practitioner and fast-tracked into a number of leadership positions, including subject leader, SENCo, assistant head teacher and deputy head teacher. Before becoming the director of NAHT Edge in 2016, James was the head teacher of a large, successful school in Hampshire. He has significant experience of developing middle leaders within schools and is passionate about the role they play in school improvement.
Because it’s part of NAHT, NAHT Edge benefits from the support of our highly skilled and experienced staff.
