No excuse for abuse: free new posters for schools

NAHT has a long-standing conference motion to lobby the Department for Education (DfE) to do more to support schools to prevent and deal appropriately with incidents of violence and aggression against staff.

School leaders know that our schools should be safe, inclusive and welcoming places for children, teachers, leaders and all other staff. There can be no place in schools for violence or aggression, whether that be physical, verbal or through social media.

As part of this ongoing work, NAHT has produced two free posters for schools to download and use in school – to help make sure everyone is clear that schools are safe, kind and inclusive places and that there is simply no excuse for abuse.

We will also be working with the DfE and its contractor, the Grid for Learning, in piloting new materials for schools on this same subject. While the DfE has been frustratingly slow to react on this issue up until now, we will continue to put pressure on them to do more. In the meantime, NAHT will continue to step in and provide advice and resources ourselves.
