NAHT briefs MPs on the leadership crisis in England’s schools

NAHT has been in parliament again today (2 February), briefing MPs on England's growing school leadership crisis and the urgent measures needed to tackle it.

NAHT member Diana Ohene-Darko joined members of our policy and organising teams to tell the MPs how instead of being hailed as heroes, school leaders have become scapegoats for government failures during the pandemic – while also battling a pay freeze, lack of professional agency and unhealthy and unsustainable workload pressures.

At the event, which was sponsored and chaired by Emma Hardy MP, NAHT shared the findings of two recent reports: Fixing the leadership crisis: time for change and School business leadership in crisis? Making school business leadership sustainable. These reports highlight the experiences and concerns our members shared with us when asked to fill in a survey about their pay, workload and well-being.
