Teachers’ Pensions: transition to new administrator – important service closure dates

Teachers’ Pensions has confirmed that administration of the Teachers’ Pension Scheme (TPS) will transfer from Capita to Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) on 1 November 2026. As part of the transition process, a number of TPS services will be temporarily unavailable while member and employer data is securely transferred to the new system.

What is happening?

The Department for Education has appointed Tata Consultancy Services as the new administrator for the Teachers’ Pension Scheme. To facilitate the transfer, Teachers’ Pensions needs to securely migrate more than two million member records and around 15,000 employer records to the new administration platform.

As a result, there will be a temporary service shutdown immediately before the transition takes place.

Key dates

Service closure period: 22 October 2026 to 2 November 2026

During this period, both members and employers will experience a temporary interruption to Teachers’ Pensions services. Normal services are expected to resume following the transfer to TCS.

What will members be unable to do?

Between 22 October and 2 November, members will not be able to:

  • access the Teachers’ Pensions website
  • access My Pension Online
  • contact Teachers’ Pensions by phone, webchat, email or social media
  • submit or track online applications.

What should members do now?

NAHT members are advised to:

  • Log in to My Pension Online before 22 October and download or save any information that may be needed during the closure period
  • Check any current pension applications or enquiries are submitted well in advance of the closure
  • Retain copies of pension statements and other important records for future reference
  • Be aware that no support will be available from Teachers’ Pensions during the shutdown period.

Will this affect my pension?

No. Teachers’ Pensions has stated that the change of administrator will not affect members’ pension benefits or entitlements. Pension rights remain protected, and the temporary closure is solely to enable the safe transfer of records and services to the new provider.

What if I have an urgent issue during this time?

If you experience an urgent life event while services are unavailable, such as a bereavement, serious ill-health or serious financial hardship, you can contact them via urgent@teacherscorp.com.

Please note that responses and support will only be available for serious events, such as those listed above, and members are strongly encouraged not to use this for any non-urgent enquires to ensure the limited support can be directed to where it is most needed.

Advice for school leaders

Any queries, applications or record checks that may be needed before the end of October should be dealt with as early as possible to avoid disruption.

NAHT will continue to monitor the transition and share any further updates affecting members.
