In the UK not all children have a fair shot at education.

Despite being a focus for all schools, children from disadvantaged backgrounds are still months behind their more affluent peers (EPI, 2020). Almost half of the disadvantage gap seen by age 11 is explained by parents' own education, attitudes and behaviours (IFS).Reading at home is fundamental to education.

In this session we will explore how primary schools can ensure parents are motivated and empowered to enjoy reading with their children.

We will share key insights from over half a million reading sessions recorded this year through our charity’s Digital Reading Log. You will leave with actionable insights for supporting your families to enjoy reading together at home.

Audience

Primary school headteachers and senior leaders including Reading Leads.
