
NAHT(NI) President, Liam McGuckin will commence conference at 10.30 on Thursday morning.
The later start will enable delegates to vote in the local elections before setting off to Limavady. Registration and refreshments will be available from 9.30am.
Natalie Pettifer, NAHT Organiser, will deliver the Unconscious Bias seminar and will challenge delegates to look at what impacts their judgement and decision-making processes. Danielle Black, NEU Regional Officer, will then lead the Sexism in Schools Workshop, discussing the NEU toolkit ‘It’s Not OK’, and encouraging delegates to identify sexist experiences in their own educational journey.
We are delighted to be joined by Kerry Boyd, Autism NI CEO, who will speak on the support available to schools and Dr Ciara Fitzpatrick, Lecturer in law at Ulster University, who will deliver a presentation on child poverty in our society.
On day two of conference, delegates will hear a legal update on equality issues and join the discussion entitled ‘the future of education’ and we are delighted to have Dr Professor David Barr from Ulster University contributing to this session.
