Dealing with abusive visitors, violence and threatening behaviour in schools

Abusive visitors and violent or threatening behaviour towards school staff/members of the school community shouldn’t be tolerated. When this behaviour does occur, staff must know their employer will play a proactive role by taking all possible action to deal with it.

This advice includes a checklist of what to do if there has been an assault, and also sets out the range of legal remedies available in the case of abusive visitors. There is also a model policy for dealing with abusive visitors.
