This new course introduces members of Secondary schools senior leadership teams to the knowledge they need about curriculum, in order to be effective in multiple aspects of whole-school leadership and to practices for driving successful design and implementation of subject curricula across a school.
This training equips school leaders with a framework for understanding and analysing curricula of various kinds, the role of knowledge in transforming pupil achievement (especially for the disadvantaged), the idea of the 'curriculum as the progression model', approaches for assessing pupils in a curriculum-led school, the importance of subject-sensitivity in the leadership of teaching and learning, principles for integrating curriculum development and teacher development, and the central importance of nurturing teacher participation in subject communities within and beyond school.
