Navigating the emotional toll of permanent exclusion in education

In the latest Leadership Focus magazine feature, Navigating the emotional toll of permanent exclusion in education, an anonymous NAHT member shares their personal experience of the emotional challenges that come with making permanent exclusion decisions.

The article highlights the difficult responsibility school leaders face in balancing the needs of individual students with those of the broader school community. It also outlines the pressures on special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) services, lack of resources in schools and funding challenges, all underscoring the urgent need for reform.

We thank the member for sharing their experience and encourage other members to contribute their stories to help drive change and improve support for school leaders. Email us at commsnaht@naht.org.uk
