Staff and pupil safety must be ‘an absolute priority’ says NAHT general secretary Paul Whiteman, in response to National Audit Office report

A new report published today by the National Audit Office highlights the worsening condition of some school buildings after years of underfunding.

Writing in today’s Express newspaper, NAHT general secretary Paul Whiteman said 'the government has failed to show the urgency and leadership needed to get a grip on this worrying situation', adding 'We fear it will only be a matter of time before a child is seriously injured unless the government acts decisively.'

NAHT is calling for an ambitious long-term school rebuilding strategy to ensure that every pupil is taught in a building that is safe and fit for purpose.
