Following significant lobbying from NAHT, from November 2023 the school workforce census will include a post of ‘school business professional’ which will include bursars, business managers, finance officers, ICT network managers, office managers and premises managers. There will also be a flag to identify members of the senior leadership team.

This is intended to improve the data collection and reporting of school business professionals, to support the Department for Education with greater insight on the make-up of this part of the workforce and inform workforce planning and benchmarking.
