In case you missed the coverage on our social channels over the weekend, NAHT LGBT+ network members, allies and staff marched alongside 30,000 other LGBT+ people and allies, as one of over 600 registered groups, at the Pride in London event on Saturday.

Not only did 2022 mark NAHT’s first time marching at a Pride event, but this year was particularly significant as it was 50 years since the first Pride march took place in the UK. We were delighted to be able to show our solidarity with – and celebrate alongside –our LGBT+ members, their pupils and the wider LGBT+ community.

It was an incredible day and a wonderful opportunity to put a spotlight on recognising, celebrating and standing in solidarity with our LGBT+ members and their pupils, as well as the wider LGBT+ community. It can be easy to forget in the wave of support and rainbow flags everywhere that it has been less than 20 years since section 28 was revoked here in the UK; we know from many members it continues to cast a long shadow.
