NAHT response to BEIS consultation: Making flexible working the default

NAHT has formally responded to the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) consultation 'Making flexible working the default', which ran until 1 December. The consultation applies to all workplaces in England only.

NAHT's response balances the benefits to school leaders – and all those working in schools and other settings – of working flexibly, with the need to take account of the practicalities of school life, like timetabling and class-splitting, and the potential burden of processing requests.

Schools are simply not like other places of work and our response sets out the need to take account of their particular needs.
