Equality, diversity and inclusion

Advice and guidance from NAHT that supports and addresses issues of equality, diversity and inclusion.

Countering hatred and division: promoting cohesion and belonging

Taking a proactive stance to tackle hatred and attempts at division, whether in the classroom, online or within the wider school community, is a legal requirement under the Public Sector Equality Duty, and a key part of school and trust values. Promoting cohesion and belonging helps to ensure that everyone in the school community feels safe, respected and valued.

We recognise that for some of our members these issues can have a personal impact on you. NAHT members can access to 24/7 confidential counselling and support through our partnership with Education Support. NAHT also has four informal equality networks for members which provide peer support, information and networking opportunities.
