Investigation meetings and how to approach them

Throughout your career as a school leader, there are likely to be rare occasions on which you may be invited to take part in an investigation.  

If you get invited to such a meeting, like all meetings, it's best to prepare for it, and the more prepared you are, the less there is to worry about.  

Our straightforward guide sets out how you might prepare for such a meeting and what you might expect to face at such a meeting. 

Investigations are neutral in the sense that they should be chaired by someone who has had no involvement in the matters leading up to the investigation, and such meetings do not amount to any indication or presumption of guilt.  The purpose of the meeting is to establish the facts, no more.
