NAHT responds to new digital standards for schools

Responding to the government setting out new standards for schools to tackle the digital divide, James Bowen, assistant general secretary at school leaders’ union NAHT, said: “The ambition the government has outlined to improve technology in schools is the right one.

“Many schools still struggle with slow broadband and unreliable Wifi. The key thing here is that schools must be fully-funded to meet that ambition.

“Schools are not using poor technology because they want to, it’s nearly always because they don’t have the funds to afford the work needed. As long as the government provides the funding that is required, schools will be keen to ensure they meet the standards set out.”
