Responding to Ofsted encouraging education providers to use a new QR code to link to inspection reprots on materials like banners and promotional materials, Paul Whiteman, general secretary at school leaders' union NAHT, said: "One of the most destructive parts of the old inspection system was the unnecessary pressure of needing to have an Ofsted banner on the school gate.
"This created unhealthy competition between schools rather than promoting productive collaboration. This in turn lead to debilitating pressure on schools leaders.
"While parents should be able to access a school's inspection report easily, such banners are unhelpful.
"The removal of the overarching grade represents an opportunity to move away from the old ways of doing things and we hope that Ofsted banners outside of schools soon become a thing of the past."
