Commenting on a report by the education select committee on the state school buildings, which looks at the RAAC crisis, Paul Whiteman, general secretary at school leaders' union NAHT, said: “The issues with RAAC are just one symptom of years of neglect and underinvestment in the school estate, and they have had a huge impact upon pupils and staff at the schools affected.
“While there has been progress made in removing RAAC from school buildings, remediation cannot happen quickly enough for the many schools still waiting.
“The RAAC crisis highlights the importance of the government having a really comprehensive understanding of the condition of school buildings, and providing the investment needed to ensure all pupils can learn in buildings which are safe and truly fit for the future.”
