Bomb threats and hoaxes are particularly difficult for school leaders to deal with. Although such events are potentially harmful to staff and pupils, it is important to remember that such events are rare.
Like so many activities, the key to dealing with such matters effectively is to be prepared, have a procedure and stick to it, raise awareness among staff, ensure that everyone understands their role and responsibilities, and ensure that evacuation drills are done at agreed intervals.
