Responding to a report on school funding published by the Education Select Committee today (Friday 19 July 2019), Paul Whiteman, general secretary of school leaders’ union NAHT, said:
“This report supports everything that school leaders have been saying for years as they have raised the alarm over school funding. Now even government ministers are freely admitting that school budgets are at absolute breaking point, following a decade of real-terms cuts and schools being asked to fill in the gaps in children’s health and social services.
“We agree that education urgently needs a multi-billion pound investment from the Treasury, followed by a long-term commitment to sustainable funding for schools and colleges in the Comprehensive Spending Review.”
