NAHT comments on government plans for children returning to school in Northern Ireland
Helena Macormac, director of school leaders' union NAHT Northern Ireland, said: “School leaders are as keen as the government is to get as many children as possible back into school, but it has to be done safely. We have been pressing for clarity and guidance which we hope to receive soon. Schools will then have to carefully consider their individual circumstances. Even with a reduced social distance of 1 meter, most primary schools would still struggle to accommodate full classes. We need the government to be very clear about its expectations when it comes to social distancing and about the science behind the decisions it is making.”
