The Department for Education (DfE) has published the achievements of pupils at key stage four (KS4) and how they compare with other schools in their local authority area and in England. The secondary school performance tables (based on provisional data) show:
- attainment results for pupils at the end of KS4
- the progress made by pupils between the end of primary school to the end of secondary school.
There is also data about school:
- income and expenditure
- pupil characteristics
- pupil absence
- Ofsted inspections.

The DfE has published updated information for schools about secondary school accountability measures, including Progress 8 and Attainment 8. The guidance explains how secondary accountability measures have been calculated in 2017, and it also gives more information about recently announced reforms that will apply to accountability measures in 2018 and 2019:
The DfE has published ready reckoners to calculate English Baccalaureate (EBacc) value added (VA) and Progress 8 scores for pupils and schools for the 2017 provisional data release. These will be updated when the DfE publishes amended performance data in January 2018. There are ready reckoners for:
- Progress 8 in KS4
- EBacc subjects for KS2 to KS4
Use the pupil Progress 8 ready reckoner to calculate the Progress 8 score for an individual pupil. The school Progress 8 ready reckoner will show schools how the DfE calculated their progress 8 scores from individual pupils' Progress 8 scores.
Progress 8 school and pupil ready reckoners for 2016 are also available.
Use the EBacc pupil ready reckoner to calculate value-added (VA) scores for EBacc subjects (science, humanities and languages) for an individual pupil. The EBacc school ready reckoner will show how the DfE has calculated a school's VA scores for EBacc subjects from individual pupils' VA scores.
