NAHT originally submitted evidence to the School Teachers' Review Body (STRB) on 30 January 2019 on what changes should be made to teachers' pay and conditions in England and Wales from September 2019. The STRB then shared the evidence provided by all the teaching unions, the Department for Education (DfE) and a number of others, and invited us to provide further comment on them.
Our full response to this can be found below, in which we emphatically rejected the DfE's attempt to impose a de facto pay cap and continued to press the STRB to stand firm in its view that an above-inflation uplift is required for all salaries and allowances in payment.
Alongside our own supplementary evidence, we also submitted another joint union statement, in which we continue to call for a 5% uplift to all salaries and allowances from September 2019.
You can read our press response to the Government's evidence here.
