Throughout the last two weeks, we have been working closely with our colleagues at the NEU and ASCL and, wherever possible, we have tried hard to ensure that the messages we are giving are aligned.
Now more than ever, we need to work closely together for the good of our profession.
I am aware of some cases locally where this has not always been the case, and our local teams and advisors are working hard to reconcile any challenges that have arisen as a result of the rapidly changing circumstances in schools.
Today, we are publishing a joint guidance statement. This has been endorsed by the senior leadership of all three unions.
I am pleased to say that it is very much in line with our current guidance, and it reaffirms the positions we have taken to date.
We hope that the document is useful to members in Wales and Northern Ireland too. We will continue to send specific communications and updates to you as we have been doing so far.
This is a much shorter document than our own guidance and FAQs that are designed to meet the unique needs of school leaders. It repeats much of the content we have already shared with you, but we believe it complements our own advice well and demonstrates that the profession is determined to work together when navigating the uncharted waters ahead.
