The Big Hair Assembly is returning at 13:30 on 15 September 2021 and sign-ups are now open. The event will mark the fifth anniversary of World Afro Day, linking schools around the world in one giant livestream assembly.
The assembly aims to change negative attitudes towards Afro hair into a positive force for inclusion. The assembly will be livestreamed internationally and students, schools and families from all over the world, will have a chance to take part in the activities or just watch on the day.
Alongside the assembly itself, there is a free digital resource pack for teachers and young people, plus the assembly activities will include prizes for schools and individuals, guests, live interaction, spoken word, international Zoom Youth Panel, film competition, news and discussion and more.
A special student film competition will also be launched in May 2021 and the winning films will be shown at the assembly.
