NAHT has been at the forefront of discussions with the Department for Education and government ministers during the pandemic.
Within the last few days, we have seen intense media speculation that schools will reopen to more pupils after May half term.
Like you, we are immensely frustrated to read these reports in the press. We have reiterated to the government that any return must be led by evidence of when it is safe to do so, not convenient dates in the education calendar.
Safe for children, safe for parents, safe for staff and safe for the wider community. This has to be the starting point.
On Thursday evening, NAHT general secretary Paul Whiteman will host our first online broadcast on ‘leading the school response to the covid-19 pandemic. Join us at 7pm on 7 May 2020 for an update and live question and answer session.
