Over the last year, the financial crisis in our schools has become clear. In recent weeks members have worked together to reveal the £3 billion school cuts to MPs and the local media. You can see updates of our campaigning activity on our website.
It is now time to take the next step and make sure parents are fully aware. If we don't do this, you can be certain that the government will blame school leaders for the savage cuts made necessary by their choices.
We have prepared a draft letter you could send to parents and carers. You are, of course, free to use, adapt or reject this. It is your judgement as to what is right for your school. It is also important to have the support of your governors. If it helps, the National Governors Association have approved a similar text.
Please also read the guidance at the start of the draft about contacting parents on these issues. There are some simple rules to follow.
You can do this alone but it would be powerful to act as a group of local heads. If you do act together, let us know and we can help get some local or national press.
The cuts are not inevitable. They are a choice. Millions are being wasted on failed projects while basic needs go unmet.
We are grateful for your support so far and hope you will join us in this next phase.
