On Friday 28 September, head teachers from across the country will gather at Downing Street to call for increased investment in our schools. The demonstration plans to bring one thousand head teachers together to secure:
• Fair and sufficient funding for all schools,
• Much improved teacher supply and retention,
• Enhanced social mobility for the most vulnerable and disadvantaged students that we serve.
In the short term, the Chancellor must ensure the major rising cost pressures on school budgets must be meaningfully addressed and improved. Any public sector pay agreements should be fully funded and crisis-hit AEN/SEND and sixth form budgets must be given emergency relief funding. In the longer term, the 2020 comprehensive spending review must ensure that every school is sufficiently funded.
Head teachers from Cumbria to Cornwall have agreed to show their support but more voices are needed to join the cause. The government needs to know the school funding crisis cannot be ignored.
How can you get involved?
Join us on Friday 28 September and tell the government the impact the funding crisis is having on your school. We want as many head teachers as possible, so please invite other local head teachers to attend with you.
At 11am, head teachers will gather at Parliament Square and will deliver the petition to 11 Downing Street at 12pm.
Register here to let us know you’ll be attending.
