The independent Assessment Review Group was established in May 2016 to consider the current primary assessment system and try to identify an alternative, better vision for the future.
Its report, published in January 2017, was the culmination of the discussions that took place within the group over a series of meetings. The report sets out a series of principles that should underpin any future assessment system and has some recommendations about what such a system should look like. Many of these ideas are reflected in the government consultation on primary assessment.
This summary document gives an overview of the key principles and recommendations contained in the full report.
