Policy Exchange, supported by Cambridge Assessment, is undertaking a survey that looks at teachers' use of textbooks and other classroom resources, such as lesson plans and worksheets.
The think tank is interested in finding out teachers' experiences of using resources (such as worksheets, power-point slides, lesson plans) to help teach lessons. It is looking at how teachers decide what materials to use and where teachers might be willing to get materials from in the future (including training on using those materials).
The survey, which should take around 10 to 15 minutes to complete, can be found here.
Alongside this survey, Policy Exchange is also surveying museums, learned societies and other not-for-profit institutions to understand what provision of these types of materials they currently make.
The final report will bring together suggestions about both supply and demand of such resources, with the aim of making policy suggestions - for teachers, institutions and government - to improve the availability and quality of such resources. It is hoped that, as a result, it will reduce workload and improve teaching and learning.
