Single central record

Schools have been required to maintain a single central record (SCR) since 2007. It is, in simple terms, evidence that schools have carried out defined recruitment and vetting checks. It must be entirely accurate, at any given point in time, and this has clear implications for the administration and management of the process. You should read this advice in conjunction with the Department for Education’s (DfE) Keeping children safe in education (July 2015) and Ofsted’s Inspecting safeguarding in early years, education and skills settings (August 2015).
