NAHT Cymru advice on the administration and marking of literacy and numeracy test(Wales)

Maths and English 389x267

NAHT Cymru members regard tests as part of the assessment of children’s literacy and numeracy skills. We do not believe that in themselves they are sufficient to gauge a pupil’s abilities and potential and should not be viewed as such. Certainly tests will not provide a holistic view of a pupil’s progress nor, on their own, will they pinpoint the next stage of a pupil’s supported development. It is the holistic information that will be of value to teachers, head teachers, pupils and parents.
