Managing pupil term-time absence (Wales)

The Minister for Education and Skills has recently clarified the powers of head teachers in regard to managing pupil absence during term time. The particular focus is dealing with parental requests for leave of absence for the purpose of taking family holidays. NAHT’s understanding is that the Minister has written to all schools in Wales on this matter.

Yn ddiweddar, mae’r Gweinidog Addysg a Sgiliau wedi egluro pwerau prifathrawon o ran rheoli absenoldeb disgyblion yn ystod amser tymor. Roedd yn ymwneud yn benodol â cheisiadau gan rieni am hawl i blant fod yn absennol i gael mynd am wyliau teuluol. Yr hyn a ddealla NAHT yw bod y Gweinidog wedi ysgrifennu at bob ysgol yng Nghymru ar y mater hwn.
