Knife crime – what school leaders can do to support children at a time of crisis

School leaders cannot solve knife crime, nor should they be expected to. However, school leaders can play an important role in stopping knife crime becoming part of children's lives. Knowing the law, talking to children about the dangers of knife crime and looking out for changes in their behaviour can help keep everyone safe.


Where there is demonstrable need, you cannot be expected to do anything more than is reasonable to put in place straightforward measures to safeguard those around you and, at the same time, protect yourself – this advice note sets out these measures.
