Exit interviews

Many head teachers and school leaders call us to discuss the merits of exit interviews, particularly when they’ve been asked by a departing member of staff to have one. This paper sets out key points you’ll need to consider if you contemplate introducing exit interviews and highlights some of the pitfalls – exit interviews, if planned and executed well, can be particularly helpful to understand why staff members are leaving, but great care is needed if employers are to get the best value from these discussions.
