Free early years and primary resources to support learning in the home environment

As schools are closed to the majority of pupils, schools are developing ways to support learning in the home environment. Below are some links to sites that members and their staff might find particularly useful, while recognising the need to be mindful of the varied access to technology pupils may have and our responsibilities to try to keep children safe online. You can find some useful links about keeping children safe online here

The Department for Education has published an initial list of online educational resources to help children to learn at home which offers a wide range of support and resources for pupils of all ages. The Department for Education has also published various pieces of guidance relevant to both schools and parents and carers including:

Safeguarding and remote education during coronavirus

Supporting your children's education during coronavirus

Helping children aged 2 to 4 to learn at home during coronavirus

Helping primary school children continue their education during coronavirus

Helping children with SEND continue their education during coronavirus

Getting help with technology for remote education during coronavirus

For PSHE education,  the PSHE Association has created a guide to teaching PSHE remotely, which not only includes valuable advice on what can be safely covered at home but also topics that should be avoided. You can read more here.

Beginning Monday 20 April, BBC Bitesize will publish daily online lessons for all ages. They will also have a new dedicated TV channel full of learning content, podcasts on BBC Sounds and loads of educational video on iPlayer.

NAHT has produced guidance and FAQs which will be helpful when planning for pupils' learning during school closures. You can also read joint union advice on coronavirus here
