Safeguarding pupils from radicalisation and extremism

The Department for Education (DfE) plays a central role in helping schools safeguard pupils from radicalisation and extremism as part of their wider safeguarding responsibilities.  The DfE provides a range of support, training and guidance to help you strengthen your safeguarding approach and feel assured that you have effective policies and procedures in place to protect individuals who may be susceptible to radicalisation.

Regional Prevent Education Co-ordinators

The DfE’s Regional Prevent Education Co-ordinators support and improve Prevent delivery in each region of England. Further information on their roles and responsibilities can be found here.

The co-ordinators provide regional communications and updates via newsletters which include information on:

  • regional trends and risk updates
  • new training, guidance and resources
  • updates or changes to the implementation of Prevent
  • relevant news, blogs or other content

You can sign up to receive these updates through their regional newsletters here.
