Refugee Week 2022

Refugee Week 2022 takes place between 20–26 June, and anyone can take part by holding or taking part in an event and activity.

The week is a UK-wide festival celebrating the contributions, creativity and resilience of refugees and people seeking sanctuary. It aims to enable people from different backgrounds to connect beyond labels, as well as encouraging understanding of why people are displaced, and the challenges they face when seeking safety.

The theme of Refugee Week in 2022 is ‘Healing’. Through creativity and conversations, it aims to celebrate community, mutual care, and the human ability to start again.

A pack of activities for children and young people is available on the Refugee Week website which you may be interested to explore. The resources available include learning packs, a series of suggested ‘simple acts’ linked with the theme of healing, and a range of free materials.

The website also signposts to related short films for young people, including animated shorts by the BBC about young people who have sought refuge in the UK.

Social media activity is being organised under the hashtags #HealingTogether, #SimpleActs and #RefugeeWeek2022

For more information visit the Refugee Week website.
