NAHT’s campaign to replace the current regime of assessment in Key Stage 2 by a more robust system will ensure that:

 

 

 

 

  •  Your Y7 teachers have information that will assist the transfer of pupils from KS2 to KS3;

 

  • Parents have accurate and descriptive information about the progress of their children, and

 

  • Children themselves arrive at your school with knowledge of their attainment and an understanding of the next steps in their educational journey.

KS2 SATs Survey for Secondary Headteachers
The current system of SATs in KS2 should continue.  »
Validated (moderated by informal testing and a sample externally moderated) teacher assessment should be used instead to inform Y7 teachers. »
League Tables are a real measure of the value of the school, and what it does for its pupils. »
League Tables should be abolished »
I would value more information on children’s personal achievement and development. »
The last contract for test administration and marking cost the taxpayer £156 million over 5 years. This is a good use of money set aside for children’s’ education. »
National sampling should replace Key Stage 2 Tests as the means of tracking standards. »
