In taking up the role of President of PPC, I would like to introduce myself to members and start by saying a special thank you to Joanna Tait for all her work as President during the past two years and to Mike Thrower for his tremendous work as the General Secretary for the past five years. My thanks and those of the Board to both Mike and Joanna for all their hard work and achievements.
I come to the role of President as a Principal of eight years standing in a General FE College and as a PPC member for twelve years – having also been a member whilst a Deputy Principal.
The work of PPC often remains unknown because it is largely focussed on case work with Principals or Deputies who are facing difficulties in their roles. All too often the changing nature of General FE means that more and more members need the help of PPC during difficult times.
A major objective is to grow our membership so we can offer more services to members. We need the help of existing members to introduce your fellow Principals and Deputies to the work of PPC and to encourage them to join by emailing Gaynor Kinchington at GaynorK@naht.org.uk for details.
We also want your feedback. PPC is a small professional Council so our resources are limited but our association with NAHT means we can offer a range of professional services to members. Please tell us what you think of the service you have received from the Council or whether you would like further information about the services that are on offer.
