Paul Davies Appeal Upheld By High Court

On behalf of Paul Davies, the NAHT is delighted to confirm the success of Mr Davies’ Appeal.  Mr Davies said “I am absolutely delighted that my Appeal has been successful.  This does not mean that I have forgotten the serious injury caused to Mr Palmer by the accident in May of 2006.  I remain very sorry for that crash and I will always be sorry.  It has been an extraordinarily difficult time for me and for my family and I am eternally grateful for all the support which I have had from family, colleagues, governors, community and the NAHT”.

Anne Hovey, Regional Officer NAHT Cymru said “This is a decision which is significant both for Mr Davies and all other registered Teachers in Wales.  It is reasoned and reasonable, and takes full account of a professional track record of success and achievement.

It has always been the view of the NAHT that the sanction of prohibition was too harsh and that insufficient weight had been given to Mr Davies’ professional record and his previous unblemished character.  He remains an excellent Head Teacher.  We will study the Judgement more fully before commenting further.
