Government Funded Dyslexia Training

The Rose Report highlighted the need to address Dyslexia / Specific Learning Difficulties to support those children’s literacy development. There is currently available an opportunity to have the government fund one of your staff to become a specialist teacher.  Members might want to consider this offer and the impact of having a specialist teacher as a member of your staff-team.  The course is funded, not the ‘cover’, but it is still a good opportunity to up-skill a member of your team.

The Dyslexia-SpLD Trust (DST) was launched in March 2009. The Trust is a consortium of organisations involved in promoting improved practice and outcomes established by the DCSF to provide opportunities for a wide range of stakeholder groups to work together.  One of the reasons for establishing the Trust is that there is so little good information on effective provision of educating and supporting individuals with dyslexia and specific learning difficulties and by visiting their website you can get access to ‘course’ information and also to the Improvement Development Programme.
