The NAHT supports the direction of travel indicated by the announcement of decentralisation of National Strategies. This indicates a move from top down policy imposition, promulgated for almost two decades, to a commissioning basis controlled by schools. This will be welcomed by schools.
This does indicate a sea-change in thinking by this Government who appear to be heeding our advice that it is time to trust schools.
NAHT has been advocating schools based curriculum development and assessment for many years.
This is surely an opportune moment to change, not only the way the curriculum is taught, but to reconsider the way it is assessed.
