    01 October 2008 This information is provided to support head teachers in schools that are their own Admission Authority. The advice to members is that it is the responsibility of the Governing Body to ensure that Appeal Panels are convened, but it may be that such Admission Authorities will wish to use the facility provided by the Local Authority to set up an Appeal Panel and to ensure that Panel members are appropriately trained, so in practice there are resource implications to be considered.

  • The Sutherland Review
    18 December 2008 The NAHT welcomes the publication of this review brought about by the failure in the administration of KS2 and KS3 SATs this summer. The focus of the review is concerned with the logistics and operational shortcomings that disrupted the process this year. However the NAHT is convinced that there are systemic flaws in current arrangements. We applaud the abandonment of the KS3 SAT regime and welcome the formation of the ‘Expert Group’ charged with defining assessment processes fit for a modern curriculum
