New national survey and competition about children’s career aspirations

NAHT is excited to announce that we are undertaking a landmark national survey, in partnership with the TES, the charity Education and Employers, and University College London Institute of Education, with the support of OECD Education.

The ‘Drawing the Future’ survey, the first of its kind, asks primary school children aged seven to 11 to draw a picture of the job they might want to do when they grow up.

This important national survey aims to find out more about children’s career aspirations, gain a better understanding of the breadth of their horizons and to see what factors might be influencing their choices. We very much hope your school takes part – it will only take a few minutes (perhaps done in an assembly or the start of lesson) and should be a fun way to get children thinking about their futures and how the subjects they are studying are relevant to this.

There are also a number of great prizes to be won for children and the school including:

  • 10 iPad Minis,
  • a personal tour of the Houses of Parliament by a member of the Lords,
  • a visit to the TES to see how the paper is produced,
  • a high profile speaker visiting your school and taking part in a Primary Futures event,
  • a deluxe Fortnum & Mason Christmas hamper, and
  • many other great prizes.
The survey has been designed to be as simple as possible for both you and your class and will only take a few minutes of your children’s time to complete. Please click here for more information about how to get involved.
