The Local Authority Caterer's Association (LACA) and the Childrens’s Food Trust are running a number of free regional events to further support schools in the implementation of universal free school meals. For all schools, getting ready for 1st September 2014 is the start of the journey and with new legislation coming into force in January on food standards and Allergens as well as the need to provide the best food possible to infants, these learning workshops are designed to help caterers and schools as they embed the policy into every day school life.
The presentations have been designed to be interesting and inspiring as well as providing an opportunity to share experiences and learnings.
Keynote speakers will provide up to the minute information from the Lead Association for Caterers in Education (LACA), the Children’s Food Trust, Food for Life Partnership, Myles Bremner - Director of The School Food Plan, celebrity chef, Ben Bartlett, from the Craft Guild of Chefs, three great solutions for schools with no kitchens (or currently having meals delivered) plus food allergy training and information regarding new food standards that come into force in January 2015.
In addition to the presentations made in the main hall at each venue, time has been allocated for workshops on such topics as the revised standards, allergen legislation, positive dining room experience, food quality and sourcing and kitchen management.
There is also be a supplier exhibition featuring 25+ of the leading suppliers in the industry offering help, support and advise
