The DfE previously informed the careers education community that refreshed careers education guidance would be published in the late spring or early summer. This has not taken place and we can only speculate why this is the case.
It was widely anticipated that the new guidance would further emphasise the desirability for schools to pursue one of 12 Quality Awards validated by the Quality in Careers Standard. NAHT sits on its board and participates in validation work. The number of secondary schools in England engaging with a recognised CEIAG quality award has risen significantly. Thirty per cent of state funded schools currently hold or are working towards an award. The 12 quality award providers have 106 assessors involved in the work.
