NAHT is preparing to respond to Education Select Committee Call for Evidence on Life Chances and foundation years education.
The Education Select Committee and the Work and Pensions Committee have jointly announced a new inquiry on the relationship between foundation years and the ‘life chances strategy’, focusing on how early years education determines children’s life chances. This will inform the development of the government’s ‘life chances strategy’ and development of new indicators, and in order to support this, they have issued a Call for Evidence asking about:
- The relationship between early years education and the life chances strategy; and
- Cross-departmental co-ordination on early years interventions and interaction with the benefits system and public services.
This is quite a fundamental, philosophical consultation about early years education for disadvantaged children to which NAHT will be providing evidence, and members working with pupils in the foundation years who may have views on these points are invited to send these to NAHT’s policy adviser email@example.com
